212 ~ A Walk out in a Town

• On the way back from town ( a few weks prior ) Spesof and Rittlin ran into a weird statue in a town
  • Statue is of Winona Wilber ( a Human in her 30s )
  • Runes around the statue are there placed by a Cleric named Monty Spring to make the statue come to life
• Town was hit by a swarm of monsters from a different realm
• Winona simply killed them all with her bare hands. Not sure how though
• Monty Spring gets the stuff needed to do the spell and casts it
• The Barron or something of the town gets very upset and yells to stop him but he does it anyways and surely Winona turns back into a human.
• The Barron had the statue commissioned by someone to whom we expect turned Winona to stone
• Winona agrees to sexual affairs with Monty for turning her back into a human
• Found incriminating evidence that Milo the Barron was involved in the turning to stone
• We found a mans wedding band on the table in the room (Bernadette’s Workshop)
• We decide to go around town and ask some questions to everyone
  • Did Bernadette have a husband?
    • probably
    • He skipped town, and more secretively the husband is believed to be having an affair with Winona
  • What was the credibility like of the Affair?
    • The town gossip apparently has an uncanny ability to tell truth vs fiction and wouldnt stop talking about it
  • How did Bernadette take the rumor
    • She was extremely upset about it and made the whole town aware of it
  • Is there a Coroner in town we could talk to
    • Yes, its the Barron, but hes unlikely to talk about it
  • Is ther Barron untrustworthy
    • Unsure, but he doesnt seem untrustworthy
  • Talking to Clair the town gossiper:
    • Winona took advantage of the hospitality in the town wink
    • Town found it strange that Winona disappeared
    • Milo blocked all attempts to start a search party
    • Bernadette took her own life a month after completing the Statue
    • Husband went missing a week after the surfacing of the cheating rumors
    • There was pushback after the Barron refused the search party
    • Damian hated Winona because he was the adventurer in town before she showed up
  • Talking to Clarisse:
    • Previous Guild manager was obsessed with Winona
    • the former guild master thoiught that the statue was replaced a year or two later
    • Agromnte’s Adventurer Registration, looks a little like Monty with proper birthmarks and supposedly died at the age of 30 fighting cockatrices
  • Adventurer Guild Records:
    • Damian was doing quite well before Winona showed up then income fell sharply
    • Winona took all the expensive quests
    • Melchior fulfilled an anonymous request asking for a spell scroll of Divine Word
  • Talking to Winona
    • She heard a single word from a man before being flashbanged
    • She did sleep with Francis the husband of the sculpter
• Eventually we convince Monty to confess that he is in fact Melchior
  • he doesnt know who did it, but says he was involved int he anonymous divine word request
  • He was going to find something to propose with that provided practicality to Winona in her adventures which is what he needed the money for
• Confronting Milo
  • He had no hand in any of it other than trying to save money
  • Likely caused Bernadette’s Death because he had her create a statue of the girl her husband slept with and left her because of
  • had no clue the statue was replaced outside of rumors
  • says Damian never worked with Damien
• Damian again:
  • Something about his wife getting eaten in the events that Winona “Saved the town from”
  • Found the ring in one of the mouths
  • His wife was apparently leaving him which was why she wasnt in town
• We confronted Winona again
  • Winona was having an affair with damians wife and she was leaving town with her
  • Damian got a letter from his wife explaining this and it was in terrible condition leading to believe he was very upset about this
• I snoop through his house without him knowing and find the letter as well as a spell scroll wall with a scroll missing for a 7th level cleric spell which matches divine word
• I confront Damian about this and he confesses to doing it.
• I convince him to give us a spell scroll for not putting him in jail and he agrees giving us Level 7 Whirlwind
